ELIM SAYS
THANKS!
To Louise Cole, Judy James, and John Palmer for their years of service
as Elim's Thrivent congregational coordinators. To all of you who gave
Elim its largest donations for the month of February in at least seven
years! As your expressions of God's love, Elim received $11,396.51 in
stewardship giving, which is $3,025.85 more than the month's projected
budget.
BROWN
BAG
LUNCHES WITH PASTOR DANALEE-- Three more of these casual gatherings
are set for Wednesdays during Lent. March 10, 17, and March 24, bring
your lunch and join the Pastor in the family room at the back of the
sanctuary 12 to 1 p.m.
PROPOSED
CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT--
You may have received a recent mailing about a proposed amendment to
Elim's constitution. A forum has been set for Sunday, March 21, at 9
a.m., to discuss the routine updates being considered. Members will
then vote on the amendment at a special congregational meeting after
worship services March 28.
FOOD FOR THE
HOMELESS--
Our pantry is almost empty! Please bring in non-perishable,
single-serving items Elim can share with those who come expressing
their need.
YOUTH
NIGHT--
Grades 5 and up will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, for tacos in a
bag, a movie, and planning for next summer's week at Flathead Lutheran
Bible Camp. Bring a friend who doesn't belong to Elim so more people
can learn about Flathead, and try to talk your parents or guardians
into coming too.
THEATRE AND
THEOLOGY--
Saturday, April 17, at 2 p.m., Elim and the Weber State University
Department of Performing Arts will team up for Theatre and Theology in
Utah. Buy a discount ticket at only $7 for Our Town, Thornton Wilder's
Pulitzer Prize-winning play, and stay afterward for a discussion of its
theological implications. The talk will be facilitated by Elim
President Dave Thomas, and the panel will include Pastor DanaLee Simon;
Larry Dooley, director of the play and chairperson of the Department of
Performing Arts; and Mark LeTourneau of WSU's English Department. Larry
and Mark are both members of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd,
and Larry is a former ELCA pastor. Get your ticket early because the
play is expected to sell out. Bring your check to Elim's office, made
out to Weber State Theatre.
WOMEN OF ELIM,
THIS IS YOUR CHANCE!
A lay female representative from Utah and a lay female delegate to the
2011 National Assembly will be elected to the Synod Council at the
Synod Assembly in May. For more detailed information, please see the
March Scribe, or contact the office, Pastor DanaLee Simon, or
Congregational President Dave Thomas.
YOUNG AT HEART--
If you're over 50, or can get a member who is to invite you, come to
the old-fashioned hymn sing Saturday, March 13, at 1:30 p.m. in the
Fellowship Hall. There's also talk of pie.
QUICK VOLUNTEER
OPPORTUNITIES--
Less Than an Hour: Change the church sign. This needs to be done when
the church office is open. Contact Dave Thomas or the office to say you
can help. Less Than 15 Minutes: Move the large credence table from the
sanctuary back to the prayer chapel. Two can do the job if they're
strong.
