Psalm 65:8

Welcome in the precious name of Jesus!

Our message for this Sunday is provided by Rev. Zach Parris, Lutheran Campus Ministry CU-Boulder, Colorado.

Pam Deitsch reads from Psalm 65.  Deanna Lee leads us in the Apostles’ Creed.  Special music “Holy, Holy, Holy (Savior and King)” is provided by Worship House Media.  Please check it out.

In your prayers this week:  Shirley (knee replacement surgery), Joni (cancer, Mary’ daughter), Linda (cancer, Ann & Norm’s daughter), my mother Dorothy Kolasch as she gets closer to heaven, the family of Jennifer Muliyil (died of kidney failure, friend of Suma Anson), and Peggy Fink and family at the death of her brother Earl. Please continue to prayer for our country and all our leaders and health care providers as we go through these stressful and troubled times.

Psalm 65:1-8 (read by Pam Deitsch)

Praise is due to You, O God, in Zion, and to You shall vows be performed. 2 O You who hear prayer, to You shall all flesh come.

When iniquities prevail against me, You atone for our transgressions.

4 Blessed is the one You choose and bring near, to dwell in Your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, the holiness of Your temple!

By awesome deeds You answer us with righteousness, O God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas; 6 the one who by his strength established the mountains, being girded with might; 7 who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples, 8 so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at Your signs.

You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy.

Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23 (read by Pastor Bruce)

That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat down. And the whole crowd stood on the beach. And he told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear…”

18 “Hear then the parable of the sower: 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path. 20 As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. 22 As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. 23 As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”

Apostles’ Creed (lead by Deanna Lee)

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer (lead by Pastor Bruce)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.  Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever and ever.  Amen.
